The Mac is generally known for its simple, easy to use interface. Occasionally, though, there are some bumps in the road.

One such "bump" is the default setting of the print dialog. It has been simplified to the point where about all you can do is select the printer and whether you want to print or preview your document.

MIssing are the most basic controls like how many copies to make and which pages to print. In addition, depending on the application and the print driver, there are a whole host of other useful setting which are missing.

Using Command-Tab to Access a Specific Window

Command-Tab is a quick way to switch between your open Applications without reaching for the mouse or trackpad. Command-Tab takes you to the top-most open window of an application. By adding a few more keystrokes, Command-Tab partners up with Exposé to take you directly to the Application's window you are looking for.

Showing a List of Upcoming Events in iCal

Several years ago, iCal had an Events List view in addition to the Day, Week and Month Views. Somewhere along the line (I think it was Leopard), the List view disappeared. Many people, including myself, have missed the List view that lets you scroll quickly through all of your Events. I recently discovered a way to see the missing List view in iCal.
