In the US iTunes store there are a multitude of educational foreign language podcasts. These are great for learning the language, but there is no substitute for native source materials.
There are over 50 iTunes stores for different countries, all in that country's native language. Unfortunately, you can only make purchases in the iTunes store of the country where your credit card is issued.
However, since podcasts are free, you can go to any of the iTunes Stores, browse the podcasts and subscribe to them just like you would in your home iTunes store. Select different countries' iTunes Stores from the dropdown list at the bottom of the iTunes Store window. These podcasts will show up with all your others and will update as expected.
On the right side of the Podcast section of the iTunes Stores, there is a listing of the top podcasts. At the various stores I looked at, the top podcasts were generally news, public affairs and comedy, presented in audio or video formats.
Beside being a great way to learn a language, podcasts from other countries are also a great way for
expats
to keep up with the news and culture from their home countries.
