Choosing a card theme

iPhoto makes it easy to make your own holiday cards.
  1. Select the photo or photos you would like to make into a card. (Many cards will take 2 or more photos.)
  2. Click on the Cards icon on the tool bar at the bottom of the iPhoto window.
  3. Choose either Greeting Card (which is a folded card) or Postcard.
  4. Choose the card theme that you would like to use.
  5. Use the bottom toolbar to make adjustments to your card. The Design button, for example, gives you variations of the theme you chose. You can also click on individual photos to adjust the zoom and pan
  6. Click in the text placeholder fields and enter your own text.
  7. Click Buy Card
If you have an account set up in iTunes to purchase media, that same account works with buying cards, books and calendars from iPhoto. If you don't have an account set up already, it will just take a few minutes.

Creating directly in iPhoto is the easiest way to make cards, books and calendars, but is a fairly expensive route to go. In addition, other online services offer many more products with your photos on them from mugs and mouse pads to clothing and cookies. Check out this tip to export your photos out of iPhoto to use with other online services.

NOTE: I saw an ad that said that Walgreens is offering 20 cards for $10. I don't know if you have the same options as with built-in cards from iPhoto, but it is worth checking out.

Once you get your cards written out, check out this tip to print the address labels for the envelopes. (And read the comments to see how to create return address labels.)
