In previous tips, we've discusses adding holiday calendars and birthday calendars, but you can also create as many calendars as you want to keep track of different kinds of events, or the schedules of multiple people.
To add a new calendar to iCal, click the + button on the bottom left corner of the iCal window. Different calendars show in different colors and you can turn them on and off individually by checking or unchecking them.
What Zupdoc has done is created two new calendars: KIDS STUFF and ADULT STUFF. As she reads through the calendar section of the newspaper, she adds events that she might be interested in to one of these calendars. This struck me as a creative idea since I've always thought of the calendars containing events that I was committed to rather than containing events that I might want to do.
By turning on only the events calendars, she can easily see the upcoming events. If she turns on the events calendars along with her "home" calendar that contains her actual scheduled events, she can look to see what events will fit into her schedule.
If you have a creative use of any of the Mac software, email me and I'll feature it in a future tip.
