There is a way, but it doesn't work. In Safari Preferences, choose the AutoFill view. Click the Edit button next to Using info from my Address Book card. This opens your Me Card with checkboxes to the right. You are supposed to be able to check one of the multiple phone numbers, email addresses, address, etc to set it as the default.
The bug is, not matter which item you check, Safari uses the first item on the list (i.e. the first email address on the list) for the default.
In my case, the first phone number listed is my work phone # and the first email address is an obscure one I rarely use.
When Safari 5 first came out and the wrong items were autofilling, I did a bunch of research to try and track down the problem and never came up with a fix. I ended up giving up and just cursing at AutoFill and fixing the wrong info every time.
The other day I buying a gift card online and used Autofill to fill in my address for the credit card. Instead of cursing, I did some more research to try to find a fix. No luck.
Until Apple fixes this bug, here is the workaround I came up with:
- Create a new card for yourself in Address Book and include only the phone number, email address and address you want AutoFill to use.
- Choose Card / Make This My Card from the Menu Bar.
